Cuisine

Perched on top of a hill and with panoramic views of the Cairngorm mountain range, our restaurant offers a menu packed with delicious seasonal Scottish food. We use the best locally sourced ingredients, from the tender beef and lamb grazed on the pastures of Strathspey and North Scotland, to the wild mushrooms handpicked in local woodlands and fresh salads and herbs and vegetables from our own kitchen garden. With ingredients this good we make sure our food is cooked to perfection.

Our talented Chef heads an enthusiastic team, ensuring that dining at Mountview is an opportunity to enjoy the wonderful, fresh, local ingredients for which this area is so well known.

Hogmanay 2017 Menu

This new years eve, join us at the Mountivew for a special Hogmanay dinner! Delicious dishes created by our chefs just for tonight, using local produce and organic vegetables from the Mountview garden. Start off with a glass of prosecco or soft drink on arrival, before enjoying the wonderful artisan cuisine we have on offer. At the end of your meal, why not stay with us and relax in our cosy lounge by the fire to see in the bells at midnight with a glass of mulled wine?

Cream of celariac soup - sweet chestnuts & a crisp garlic crouton

Twice baked Isle of Mull cheddar souffle - rich parmesan glaze

Pan fried scallops - smoked leek & Abroath Smokie cream sauce, Mountview garden Jerusalem artichoke crisps

Ham hock terrine - gerkins, whole grain mustard & green peppercorns, with a horseradish cream & toasted homemade brioche

Wild mushroom pithivier - hand picked & dried local wild mushrooms, creamed spinach & a Jerusalem artichoke puree & rocket salad

Slow roasted Balliefurth loin of venison - beetroot & bramley apple puree, root vegetable & kale croquette, black treacle pan jus

Oven baked monkfish - garlic & herb butter, roasted vine cherry tomatoes & pink fir apple potatoes from the Mountview garden

Slow roasted Balliefurth lamb shank - rosemary & red wine, creamy smoked garlic infused mash & winter greens

Pan seared guinea fowl - wrapped in pancetta & finished in the oven, with peal barley & local wild mushroom risotto & a pan jus

Homemade gnocchi - with wilted spinach, mixed herb pesto & homemade garlic bread

Beetroot & butternut squash wellington - lentils, chestnuts & Mountview garden kale pesto
